2012 Mountain Dell Men’s Association Welcome to another fun and exciting year for the Mountain Dell Men’s Association. Clean off those clubs, buy some new golf balls, because you are going to have the time of your life this year. There are some significant changes so make sure you pay attention to the information in this welcome letter as well as the 2012 schedule. League play will start Thursday May 3rd. Times will be available this year starting at 8am going till 5:45pm. Tee times will be the same as last year so please call Jeremy Miller to confirm your tee time as soon as possible. Groups that do not call to confirm will lose their spot. For new members; you may call on Monday April 30th to reserve your time. Last year we had a problem with a few groups not letting us know they were going to miss a certain week. This resulted in unused tee times (lost revenue) while other parts of the day were jammed packed. We have too many men’s leaguers for the amount of tee times in the day. If you can’t make it please call the pro shop so we can give that time away to another group for that week. If you fail to show up for your time and do not advise Jeremy ahead of time you will lose your time for the remainder of the year. So please do the responsible thing and call immediately so everyone can enjoy our league. This year we will have the 9 hole league playing the opposite course as the 18 hole league. This opens up prime time spots for both the 18 and 9 hole leagues. This also allows us to grow both leagues. If you know other people or groups that would like to join lets get them up here. More players the better!!!! Men’s League prices have not changed. $25.00 annual dues, $7.00 weekly payout fee ($6.00 net and gross payout, $0.50 net skins, and $0.50 gross skins). Emails will be sent to notify members when the results have been posted to our website (mountaindellmens.com) as well as on the Men’s League board. Green Fee’s have went up this year to make Capital Improvements to our course which is something that hasn’t been done for a long time. We are looking forward to improving our course and facilities to make this the best place to play in the state. Along with changes, we have new ownership in the café. There will be many improvements and remodeling done to make your experience more enjoyable. There will be many new items on the menu, new after round appetizers, improved bar area, seating, flat screens, and the absolute best customer service. So make sure you stop in and experience the new café, you won’t be disappointed. Player Of The Year points will be awarded weekly for the lowest 12 gross scores receiving points. Every event including the tournaments and Championship will help you accrue points. In addition there will be a money leader board posted weekly. We will only be having one 8 Man Team this year so if you are interested in playing please let us know. There will be tryouts before each 8 man event to fill 1-3 open spots. When the 8 man team is playing at a different course on a men’s league day all players will receive player of the year points since they will be representing our men’s association. They will be awarded their average point total from the previous men’s league rounds. The club Championship is scheduled for Thursday August 16th (1st round) and Saturday August 18th (2nd round). Participants will play round one on Thursday with their regular weekly group. Saturday’s round two will be an 8:00 a.m. shotgun start followed by an awards banquet during which lunch and drinks will be served. The pairings for round two will be based on the player’s first round results. To be eligible for the Championship you must have played at least 5 men’s league events throughout the season. The Match Play Championship has been such a big hit over the past years that we’re going to keep it going. Double elimination will be back again. There will be a draft party on May 31st at the Mountain Dell Grill. Appetizers’ and drinks will be served and are included in your entry fee. Again this event will be handicapped with two separate flights to make it fun and fare. For more information go on our website and look for 2012 Match Play. Salt Lake City Golf Division will be hosting a Tournament of Champions Match Play. This mean’s we will be sending our Men’s League Champion as well as our Men’s League Net Champion to the tournament. It starts in September and runs through October. Our Champions will be competing against the champions from our other City courses. The City is offering some pretty big prizes so it should be exciting! Our goal at Mountain Dell is to provide you a great golfing experience in a competitive, low stress environment. Handicapping will remain the same. We will keep an in house handicap based on your last 7 scores, throwing out your high and low score. Your UGA handicap has no influence on your league handicap. Handicaps are updated weekly and are solely based on league scores. This eliminates sandbagging and everyone should win throughout the year. Players are responsible to post scores into the UGA computer at his discretion, we will not post scores for you.
